Does one presume that the facility to send b******s or similar fraternal greetings to a fellow member without the world and his wife also reading it, no longer exists?
What tiny said... just click on the username of the person you want to talk to and a window pops up... there'll be a option that says start conversation.... alternatively if you hover over the inbox icon up on the top right, there is a start conversation option
