  1. Don't worry, nobody's farted hehe. :D
Been looking for the thread I saw earlier today when @zed spoke about them fitting a front hinged westy roof. Anyway couldn't find it so what I'm asking about is, with a Devon roof, would a westy roof go on and the hole in the roof fit ok? Just wondered?
Thanks in advance for your replies :)

My sister has a devon, she had a westy roof fitted by O'conners campers i think  but i'm sure she had to have the hole altered and somethings strenthened

  3. Ok, cheers, hopefully someone on here will have some pics or have had it done mate? Just thinking as I'd prefer that roof to my Devon.

  5. Front hinged Westie roofs used the factory sunroof for access to the pop top so a van cut for a Devon roof wouldn't work. A rear hinged Westie roof might.

Devon roofs look better than Westy roofs.
    Wasn't me BTW.
I think @vdub brvs has a Westy hole and is fitting a Devon roof, maybe you were thinking of that?

The hole for a rear hinge westy is massive! Mine goes from just behind the B pillar to level with the rear of the rear windows..there's a steel crossmember level with the rear of the sliding door aperture.

Is a Devon roof hole that big?

  8. no but no cross member

No, but in the first post the OP mentioned a front hinged roof, which wouldn't work as part of the roof hole would be under the roofrack bit.

  10. Quite right! My order of roofs in aesthetically descending order is:
    1. Dormobile.
    2.early pre full roof Westie.
    3. Mid 70's Devon.
    4. Early Devon.
    5. Danbury.
    6. Westies.
    7. Devon Double Top.
    8. Viking.
    9. Those massive fibreglass boat ones.

  11. Goes from the front of the sliding door to the just above the rear roof locker?

I thought westy roofs used some form of full lengths sunshine roof...though there is deffo a cross member and the bed base fills most of the rear hole..am guessing to get ye bed to fit under the roof itself.

Mine doesn't have a roof locker, Malaga's don't have them. Though I imagine the hole is the same for all..

That's the rear hinged ones, quite different. The hole into a front hinged one is the small sunroof hole.

I forgot to say she had the rear hinged westy roof fitted, she now regrets it coz she cant stand up in the bus and it feels more cramped, it's stay devon for the win

  17. Ah!

  18. There's an M plate code for reinforcing to the roof for late('74>) vans destined for the Westphalia factory, I guess that's what the cross member is?

  19. Am I sensing I should just pay for a canvas and keep the Devon lol!

  20. nooooooooooo bellows:D
