Oil smoke on start after a lay up....

  1. Hi all
My bus has been sat for a few weeks on a sloping drive (engine at bottom of slope) and on start up there was a fair bit of oil smoke thru the air vents - gave me bit of a turn - reaching for the extinguishers etc....!

Turn off and it is oil smoke burning off the near side head/tinware. So I assume its the pushrod seals that are gone, its a T4 2.0 (79 Cali) so the H/E's are a distance from the head and clean - can anyone confirm that my thoughts are correct? On the slope I assume the oil is sitting low at the back an soaking any seal it can
    Cheers

  3. I thought my bus was on fire once, gingerly opening the engine hatch with an extinguisher in my hand, turned out to be a bad seal on the manifold, our poor dog looked as high as a kite and was getting done like a kipper!
