Evening all , just fitted a 'stove pipe' if that's the correct name, the elbow that pokes up through the tinware for the air filter pre-heat pipe to connect to. It took a fair amount of persuading to fit however there was a fair amount of oil collected on the r/h tinware i removed for access, the one under the push rod tubes, the oil is not coming from the push rod tubes or the rocker cover but higher up. It's just had new barrels, pistons and heads 200 miles ago. Your thoughts would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
Any pics ? It does travel or get spun to other places ,any tell tale signs fuel pump studs ? Alternator stand ?
It's collecting on the r/h tinware at the end nearest the gearbox, there are drips of oil on the head fins above it, bone dry on the l/h side.
I don't like the sound of that, are your rockers bolt on vented ones? Any run down to the heat exchanger?
Dipstick boot split if it has one? Why did you have the rebuild? Do you have an oil bath air filter? Chrome aftermarket oil filler with a vent not piped?
The leak is coming from above the push rod tubes on the r/h side, drips are collecting on the head cooling fins and dripping down onto to the lower small flat tinware plate. The engine blew out a spark plug (heli-coiled) hence the re-build. Oil bath filter with every thing connected.
Hope it’s not the case . You will have to wipe it down again n then have a good look with a torch and see if you can see where it’s coming from , may have to switch off after a run then look as this can be when it runs out ?
I am guessing that is either the joint between gearbox pedestal and oil filler, or case stud leaking, if its not simply spillage sitting around and running down later.
