I replaced the flexible coupling with a u/j (part of the EPAS) but if I needed one I’d buy it from C&C.

When I first read this thread I thought it was about the quality of the parts available ‘As you know there's lots of Marmite copies out there.’ but it appears to be really about the price. ‘This is the point. Try and get a group discount from SGF’

They’re less than £30 from C&C, how much do you think you will save?

  2. From what I read there's an assumption they will be better quality than the ones C&C sell?

As C&C buy them from the same manufacturer as the group buyer intends to purchase them from that assumption may not be correct.

  4. Now I have read through all the posts I see that may be the case. As you say given that you appear to be able to buy them off the shelf for £30 then (in the grand scheme of things) unlikely to save much, I wouldn't buy one for my spares box to save a couple of quid.

I also doubt there will be much of a saving but you never know. C&C could be buying them for £10 for all we know?
All "group-buys" do the same thing; namely try and buy something cheaper than the suppliers sell them for. Nothing wrong with that.

  6. No you're right nothing wrong with that so if one can be obtained for £15 including postage and packing i.e. half price then I'll have one.

  7. I'm interested

I really don’t get this; if we were talking about something with a price tag of £300 a group discount would be worth having but on a part with a retail price of £30 if you’re lucky you might be able to buy a beer with the savings. And we get a 10% discount from C&C so the part is not even £30.

We moan when we can’t buy decent quality parts then when a supplier does offer a quality item we try to buy it somewhere else.

i think that's a bit of an unfair comment, last most people knew you couldn't even get these items from any supplier. if C&C are supplying then great i don't see what the problem is.

  10. Why don't we get a group buy from c&c???????

    I'm with you.
Just because a supplier sells something, doesn't make it wrong to try and get it cheaper elsewhere surely?
I'm not quite sure what exactly it is you don't get. If you don't want to be involved, fair enough; but don't have a pop at people trying to save a few quid.

  12. It's a group buy being suggested, we would have to share!

  13. I think this started out as a thread to get an OEM steering Coupler direct from the original supplier, group buying power would have helped
Then it was pointed out that C&C's is made by the same people, so it turned into a discount on a product already available
I don't think @77 Westy was trying to have a pop at anyone really, just pointing out the irony of us all moaning that people only produce cheap crap and then us lot trying to find a cheaper price for a decent product that someone has already sourced!

    I get that, but:
    Propex
    Fire-tech
    Dipstick boots etc etc
Personally I see nothing wrong with trying to save a few quid just because one of the suppliers sells something.
