Apparently the company below provided VW with the original steering coupler. As you know there's lots of Marmite copies out there. I'm thinking of seeing if we can get a group buy together. Anyone interested? http://www.sgf.de/en/sgf-sueddeutsc...oducts/steering-column/steering-coupling.html
If apparently comes good and the price is right I imagine there will be decent interest, I go in for one just to have if the quality is good
There is a pic of a recently bought one in the chilli funky green machine thread and it is a vewib item. Pretty sure it is a copy of a genuine item. As for the SGF bit I am not sure. It could from them
VW stopped supplying these couplings years ago so you won’t get a ‘new’ one with a VW logo, and VW never made them, it was a bought in component. SGF is the manufacturer of the couplings that VW purchased but there may have been others (SGF was the first one I found and I didn’t bother looking further). The C&C ‘genuine steering column coupling’ manufactured by SGF is as ‘genuine’ as you’re going to get from anywhere and unless you can get a discounted price from SGF with a group buy there is not much point going direct as you’ll get the same coupling that C&C sell.
Good luck with the group buy, but I also wish C&C success in selling the ‘genuine’ coupling. If more people insisted on quality maybe the parts retailers would stop selling rubbish but when they do sell quality if we try to purchase it cheaper they’ll only be able to sell rubbish.
This^. After all the moaning about this part, respect to C&C for supplying good ones (if they really are the same).
