Where did you find standard steel crinkle washers? I'm struggling, could be because it's late though!
They where spring washers as i still have the old bolts and washers from when i restored my suspension Mines a 74
Can we clarify what we mean by “spring washer”? Bentley states that they are spring washers but all fastener suppliers I’ve been to use the term spring washer to refer to those washers with a split in that have a spring action to them. The original washers I took off the van don’t match this, and look to be what are now called crinkle washers. I’m trying to match what was there originally but can’t seem to find steel crinkle washers so my options are: - use stainless A2 crinkle washers, but these might not be right as A2 is more brittle. - use steel spring washers which look very different to what were there originally but presumably do the same job (I.e make it difficult for the bolt to work loose due to the springiness of the washer. Wavey washers are or should be spring steel .. A2 stainless is the bog standard stainless bolt grade which is too soft and will fatigue if used in the wrong application ....
Sorry Mark, checked my stash of ‘come in handy’ Vw nuts/bolts etc- I’ve got none of the plastic plugs.
