I highly doubt this will happen, his (highly dangerous) ideals are obviously deep-seated and solitude alone will not change them.

Maybe, but he didn't form his views in isolation if his manifesto is to be believed. In prison he will come up against a myriad of views and unless he is kept in isolation he will be exposed to them. Cut off from his support network he will find things different.

Who ever thought he wasn't insane should do time too. Put him in an asylum that will give him something to think about for the rest of his life. So called justice
I disagree, I think he is sane. His beliefs and actions clearly do not fit in the 21st century, but he knew and understood exactly what he was doing. By labelling him insane takes away the utter seriousness of his actions.

Agreed, i'm glad he's been catagorised as sane, it's makes him accountable for his actions.
I don't agree with the death penalty, but even if i did, what's the point in killing him and letting him disapear into nothingness. Remove his freedom, 21 yrs is a legal construct, he'll spend the rest of his life inside, and that's a very long time to spend on your own.

If you don't know I can't tell you.
I respect the views of people who think he should be locked up, thats my view. If my child had been on that Island that is what I would want.

I would too but looking from a distance and through a glass darkly I want his motivations to be pulled apart and proved wrong.

Prison for 21 years then hang him.

Wish I had thought of that, keeps everyone happy, those who want him locked up and those who want him hung

completely agree marvel. he is definately sane, but just a complete and utter wrongun who needs proper harsh punishment!
Just like to say i too think he should get proper harsh punishment for what he did, but if you read the trial , that was just what he wanted them to say ,he was" sane", it was his lawyers that tried the insane bit , but he is quoted as saying something like that would be worse than death for him if they said he was insane, i know the victims relatives wanted a sane verdict but if they knew that's what he wanted maybe ?? some would have preferred him to get something that what he thought was worse than death ,nothing will bring them back ,it bites me to think he got what he wanted. Their isn't a word that describes him but sane isn't one that springs to mind with me I'm afraid. Sorry I'm not being confrontational just explaining why i wrote that.

Just like to say i too think he should get proper harsh punishment for what he did, but if you read the trial , that was just what he wanted them to say ,he was" sane", it was his lawyers that tried the insane bit , but he is quoted as saying something like that would be worse than death for him if they said he was insane, i know the victims relatives wanted a sane verdict but if they knew that's what he wanted maybe ?? some would have preferred him to get something that what he thought was worse than death ,nothing will bring them back ,it bites me to think he got what he wanted. He was analysed by doctors and declared sane. They can't just declare somebody insane for the hell of it.
