  1. Hi all - one of my little projects ( a Powerpak bicycle engine) has a stripped plug thread - it looks like its had a helicoil already, is it possible to do it again or do I need to find a new head?? Cheers B

  2. If you can work out what helicoil it had it it, should be possible to fit another. It should just screw into the existing thread. You'll need the tool, tho'. Alternatively, might be possible to fit a metal insert.

  3. Has the helicoil come out? Or have you stripped the aluminium behind the steel coil? Or has the steel itself stripped?
I've done hundreds of helicoils and achieved some awesome levels of trackside bodging, nothing is impossible. ;)

  4. A time-sert would be a better option, as they don't wind out once they are installed!!

Do you know what the plug thread size is?

  5. If I remember rightly they're an L8 plug which is a B4HS in new money and therefore similar to 1600 plugs just run a bit hotter. 14mm thread.

EDIT: I am sad and need to get a life!

  6. Well I have got a timesert kit for M14x1.25. I would just need to get the correct length insert ;)

  7. Short reach lawnmowery style as opposed to long reach Porsche styleeeee.
I have a helicoil if you want to try one.
