Surely hire or reward insurance must cost all of what you can make unless you're at it most weekends?

Hi there jammy yes i am local i live at Ashbourne , yes the roads to congleton are narrow more so the short cut way turning off at rushton. my bay is L regd type 4 the engine was swapped over from a 1600 before i bought it . i will have to keep an eye out for yours when passing trough. which side are you from the Bath side or matlock .

  6. I have looked into this a little. If you doproms you needs a private hire license, i.e. taxi license. But weddings for some strange reason are different, you dont need any special license, but obviously you need the right insurance.

  7. Matlock side up the road from Twiggs, yes will keep.my eye out for you. no worries, cheers

  12. Yes sorry weddings are ok
But proms you need to be a taxi
Who wants to go to a prom in a taxi !
Most people I have meet doing proms
    If stopped by the police
Would just say they are doing in for free
And I have done a few free ones too
I have photos of proms and all you see is campers and old cars
And they have all been hired :)

Telling the police it's free I understand.
What happens if you have a crash though and one of the kids gets hurt? The insurers WILL find out you've been paid for it and we all know what insurance companies are like....
Don't get me wrong; I wouldn't mind doing a few in mine if I could make it pay but I'd want to be 100% certain that my bus, the passengers and I, were all properly insured.

  15. 100% agree. Worst case someone badly injured or killed. Your not insured, you go to prison and lose your house.

  16. Well, I had to take the bus off SORN, costing six months tax, tank of petrol, cost of a fresh flower arrangement thing for the dash, missed out on the canapés at the reception while I parked it in the £18.00 a night secure car park so I can safely say I charged nothing and paid a fortune to have the pleasure of using my bus for a wedding. How's that for a business model.....?

  17. Not quite as bad, but I reupholstered the interior, tank of fuel, and a days worth of cleaning!
And charged cock all, of course :0)

  18. Well if you know anyone wanting a camper around Colchester
Weddings / proms/ or photo shoots
    We will do it
I hold lots of driving qualifications
Also been teaching people to drive for over 25 years
I do most of the work on camper myself
    But most of all
Love being out and about in camper
It's not always about the money
It just nice to be using her as often as possible for all sorts of things
Going by how many people I meet (other camper owners drivers )
Maybe proms should be the same law as weddings
Should I put on web site that the camper if free for proms
But they need to give my dog some money :)
    Happy days

So you've got the taxi licence then and your bus is plated?
I'd struggle round here as they won't plate anything older that 10 years I think it is.

  20. Im not sure if different councils have different policies. You would need to check the local council website or give them a ring.
