Hi all Just thought we would introduce ourselves, we have just been lucky enough to purchase a 1973 bay, as our winter restoration project (not saying for how many winters tho!) after selling my 1972 Beetle. From what we can see from the history, it started life as a Microbus, and then had a devon moonraker conversion, before it had an engine fire in 2010! The previous owner fitted a :-[ palomino :-[ high top. :- What we can say about that is its an original one ) and it is almost so ugly its cool. We are hoping to do most of the work ourselves (bit of a learning curve for me, and I will definitely be wearing the L Plates, but hubby is a dab hand at this sort of thing! Thankfully! Will get some pics up as soon as we get a spare few mins!
Nice roof boat! When you get things moving, get a thread started in the restoration board, its good to be able to track progress as the years go by!
Didn't take long to get the engine out: Think it may need a big bit of TLC Spare carb anyone? Believe it or not the engine still turns over with some compression! But we don't think these jump leads will help this battery: Will continue the progress in a resto thread!
Hi and welcome to the site, you'll love it here!!!! Well, you certainly have a fair bit to be getting on with there don't you ) Good luck and keep us updated, we love pics!
I quite like the roof, its er, different, looks like the engine will need a lick of paint to tidy it up though maybe a gasket here and there, whilst your doing it, there is a group buy on here at the mo for a firetec engine fire extinguisher system, something to maybe think about. Oh welcome to TLB by the way
