i don't know any garage that charges less than 45 round here - suppose it depends how busy you are but 30 is cheap.
Looks cool zed , i wont criticise ,cos, i couldnt do that or do what you do , your a genuine, honest chap , and you will always have work if you want it im sure . Your rate is up to you , i think earning what you want and being happy with that is great , hope some dont take the pee thats all. Good luck with the work and hope the boat fits in somewhere too sometime .
Again based on my own experience running a small business, irrelevant what people charge in other parts of the country but have a look at local costs for a good mechanic and charge the same, sometimes your price can contradict your website! I.e looking at his website he appears to know what he is doing but he can't do cos he is only charging xyz!
I'd say (seriously) yes, Zed. Often the case that one-man bands undercharge for their services, particularly if they have a passion for what they're doing (but you likely know that). You've got to eat and pay the rent, and you're working on sought-after vehicles that are appreciating in value, not old relics. Bump it up to £45 - no-one'll notice. "The labourer is worthy of his hire", and all that...
You're all correct, I don't charge enough to get by which is silly. £40 then.Anyone already booked in stays at old rate of course.
Hi Zed, the site looks great. It has certainly got my attention. One addition that would be helpful is a description of what exactly is included in the service cost (is is oil & filter, plugs and air filter only or is tappet and timing adjustment included for example).
I'd hang fire on a Blog @Zed....while it may provide an alternative place to promote your services indirectly, the time spent updating it, deciding what to post, what to leave out etc. may not justify the rewards, in terms of additional custom. From my limited experience, blogs are best left to people who like blogging, for whatever reason...they take on a life of their own, and take up a lot of time.
