now thats plain showing off mate

Seriously, looks very good - I'm jealous as our suspension on the westy was done on the bus & not prepped/painted! I will get round to it one day ;D

  5. Mark you say the nicest things. I have to say, the problem with cleaning and painting, and powder coating, is you set a goal without knowing it. All of a sudden every nut and bolt is not good enough, or clean enough. The budget goes out the window, and your hobby can become a stress, the oppersite of VW ethic. On a positive note I'm enjoying every moment of rebuilding my bus. I am cleaning and using as much as possible of the original parts as I can. By the end of the hols all the running gear will be complete. All I want now is my bus back on the road.

you need to see Simon then

Major is going to Absolute mid January for a battery tray, fueltank pipes and mot so he should be alongside yours for a while!

looking forward to seeing some more pics of your progress

  7. Mark, as much as respect Simons work, be pre-pared his quotes are more on the minimal side than max. That's just a word of warning from a friend to a friend. I love the quality he produces, but if your on a tight budget, you need to be ready.

  8. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

You mean estimates? A quote is a quote and should be kept to.
All that powder coated stuff will end up spoiled by over-spray and underseal, mark my words. ;)

What I do is list all of the work I need doing and give him the list - the work we do have done are jobs what we cant do ourselves such as tracking etc.
The battery tray and fuel tank pipes need doing but we have the garage fee to do them, what we need is storage! I know what you are saying & a couple of others have said similar!

  10. Noted Zed. I have now finished the front beam, I will fit the sway bar when the beam is back on the bus.

And the rear hubs are ready for fitting, again I will torque up when fitted. But that's after the final re-spray.

Sorry photo bucket as turned it upside down!

  11. Looks great fella!! Cracking on with it!! :)

  12. Looks very good dude

Wrapping everything in cling film will help most of the overspray and dust settling on your painted/powdercoated parts

  13. Thanks paradox, the body should go on a dolly to be sprayed. If not, your idea sounds ideal. Thanks lardy I appreciate the positive input.

  14. quality work on that beam mate 8)

  15.
  16. Cheers Diddy... :D :D

  17. Top attention to detail going on here - gonna look pretty special when it's all back together :)

  18. Thanks Matt, the running gear should be back on soon. Depends on the sprayers time slot. I will post pics as soon as the running gear is fitted.
