Nasty noise from under the cab floor whilst driving

    Machine 7 are a reputable company - I have used them many time.

    I got the broken parts off pretty easily although I did have to cut the retaining clips with the angle grinder as they were rusted up.
    The bolt on the passenger side is seized in place despite getting the nut off. I am hopeing that drowning it in penetrating fluid and leaving it overnight will let me knock it out like the other side. If not, any ideas?
     
  5. Stick some heat into it with a blow torch and give the area a few glancing blows with a hammer
     
  6. I only have a propane torch (not oxy), will that do? I guess it'd be wise to take the wheel off to avoid damaging the tyre but what about all those rubber boots and bump stops that are in the vicinity?
     
  7. I use a butane blow torch as i dont have an oxy kit

    As for the rubbers just be carefull

    The nice man at Machine7 contacted me to let me know that the anti-roll bar was on back order and he did not have a delivery date.
    He offered me a full refund but was kind enough to accept my changed order for just the fixing kits and waived the shipping costs.
    I have ordered the bar from JK now so I am still on target.

    I am a bit annoyed that I stupidly knackered that bolt I could not get out by pounding on it. If I had half a brain I would have left it alone and fitted the new bar to it. Now I have to get the blasted thing out as the thread is stuffed. Like I said, Slapdash is my middle name.

  10. I replaced ours with the uprated one from JK, expensive but I reckon it improved the handling 100%. The van handles better around corners and in wind, doesnt drift now like it used to, shame JK conned me for the fitting kit which was for the standard bar. I used the red bushes and used the toolmakers clamp I made in my apprenticeship to hold the bushings and the clamp together while I slid (well t$£%%^&ed on the retainer)!

    Best job I did this year for 90 quid.

  12. The bar arrived from JK Friday and the fixings from Machine7 not much later. With pressure from the missus to go to the beach 1st thing Sat I got down to it. That last bolt was not shifting with butane heat, so I cut the head off to try and beat it out with a drift. No chance. So I tried to weld a bar to it so I could twist it. That did not work, but the heat it put into the bolt must have helped as a few desperate smacks with the hammer saw it budge. 20 minutes later and it was finaly out. 2 hours it took.
    I then put the rubber bushes on the bar and mounted it to the adept.
    Then I played tennis.
    Later I wrapped the retaining brackets round the rubber and bar and realised I had one heckbof a job in font of.me compressing the runners t close the 4cm gap to the 1cm it needed to be to fit.the clips. an hour of wrestling with mole grips and hammering at a stupid angle under the bus and one was done. The second only took 50 mins!
    That just left the bolts to be torqued up. I had noticed they were different colours and it seems different quality as one sheared off. Lucky I had kept one of the old ones.

    So 6 hours after starting I was done. And greasy as a Frenchman.

    We did not make the beach in the end as she had misunderstood the weather forecast.
