Hopefully he'll get the help he needs this time - and he got clean once before so he knows he can do it. Fingers crossed for small but steady steps in the right direction.
Sending best wishes to you and family Barry, there will be lots of ups and downs - I've seen a few people riding through Herion addiction, some make it, some don't. It's no reflection on the parents, it's the individuals choice of social circles and choices they make that lead them down the wrong path. There's always chance of coming back, but be prepared for many fall backs- don't take it personally; theres nothing more heart wrenching than thinking they are clean of the gear only to find out they've been lying. Maybe plan some stuff for the future some things to look forward to like camping trip / fishing etc together and give him some flashbacks of father son moments in his life. Lots of small things add up and love is king. You clearly are a caring parent.
