People will ask why post this on a social media platform for all to see, I’m posting this so people can see how things can spiral out of control, where do I start, my 36 year old son from one of my previous marriages was diagnosed with MS when he was just 19 he suffered with chronic pain for which he took first weed, then heroine, then crack cocaine, he lives with my ex who has terminal lung cancer 6 months ago my daughter had to cut him down after he attempted to hang himself, he was taken to a mental health unit but after only 72 yes 72 hours was released, things were going well and he was getting help and was clean for 6 months, then he got involved with an Albanian drug gang and was back on the crack, he used my daughters address to try to smuggle drugs into the country and when my daughter reported him to the police he went round armed with a knife and attacked her partner and smashed up their car all in front of my young grandsons, he then took a load of tablets and was found unconscious in the road, he is now in casualty handcuffed to 2 police officers and is due in court on Monday on so many charges
This is my son who I used to watch play football on a Sunday morning, who rode on my shoulders at Chelsea, who loved playing with his cars, my son who loved his dad so much and would hug me so hard
This could be one of your kids

I can only poorly imagine the different types of pain you both feel. I guess (not having children's myself) that watching them grow up can be hard as they become adults, but you never loose being their parent and all of what that entails.

    You have my best wishes.

Crikey Barry, that’s hard. Hopefully your son will be able to get more help again and can stay away from the Albanians - or they stay away from him.

It must be horrible for all your family to see the downward spiral and to be physically attacked. Especially as you can all remember and knew what he was like as a kid :(. You have a lot to cope with matey xx

Sometimes it helps to just write it down and share,I didn’t post this for sympathy I just wanted to highlight how easy it is for things to spiral out of control, it’s no secret that my wife is unwell and she’s not in a good place at the moment it sounds daft but looking after my wife and Holly is deflecting things away from what’s happening in London, remember we all have problems and it’s not a competition as to who’s problem is worse, some lay in bed at night worrying about how to pay the bills some worry about health some worry as to why a 50 year old camper won’t start they are all important to the individual

Words fail me, MS is a horrible condition and the use of drugs to help seems to have taken him down an even worse road.
I wish you and your extended family all the best and hope your son has the strength to sort himself out.
….. on a lighter note, being taken to see Chelsea as a young child …. what were you thinking!

    How's his MS now?
I can see it up the heroin but crack isn't a pain killer is it?
I had a friend who's spine was an s shape, that's not an exaggeration, he shovelled in heroine like there was no tomorrow but never lost his marbles. He could move one hand and it's fingers, that was it, but he played synth in a punk band. Great guy, had lots of friends helping him get through life in his own way.

Crack though - my Sis in law tried it once over a weekend and honest to god even a week later you could see it in her eyes, she looked like she was on another planet. Her message was that a hit from a crack pipe was like a psychedelic orgasm and as it faded she wanted another hit straight away... and repeat. Even a week later she wanted more though that was fading. Highly addictive. Luckily she's able to reason - cheap thrill c/w addiction to a mind scrambling drug or, er no thanks, I'll get back to my life instead. One to avoid kids. She was no stranger to a line of coke on the right occasion but said this was entirely something else.

I err to blaming weak will for addiction but I'd give crack heads a pass, seeing and hearing about it. Nasty stuff.

Spot on Bazza, could be any of our kids.

Please take the following in the “light of the end of tunnel” and “there is always hope” that I mean it to be.

There was a story in the papers here in Oz that brought a smile to my life

    https://amp.smh.com.au/lifestyle/he...-learned-about-addiction-20230418-p5d1gt.html

“Simon got clean on his father’s 70th birthday in 2013. Now with a psychology degree and a job as a rehab counsellor, Hughes has spent 10 years of sobriety studying the intricacies of addiction.”

    Doesn’t always end up happy.
My middle son walked a fine line.
    I was lucky.
My wife is a psych nurse.
She knew what to do when things got tough.
First was to send me out of the room.

I can’t say I feel you pain but I do understand.
my wife deals with this day in day out.

All I can say is - take care. You done good.

    PS
    Congratulations for posting.
Sharing this is a BIG step in helping us all know this isn’t some one off problem.
    No shame.
