I've gotto admit this is becoming a more appealing option for in a couple of years instead of buying a souless T5, love my bus but 3.5hrs to get us to Breck Farm last week and although I enjoyed every second it was painful when we were only 5 miles from our house and my 3yr old is already saying 'Daddy are we at the seaside yet' At least with the scooby conversion he would have difficulty speaking when I hit the accelerator
Should have this back next week with a steering rack added. 150+ bhp and a sloppy steering box don't mix.
Sounds brilliant, how long will it take them and are you willing to tell all how many £££ Are you getting power steering?
Not going for power steering, the rack will make it considerably lighter than the knackered old box its replacing. It's taking them a few weeks as all the brackets are being made out of ply as templates then being sent off for fabrication. I'm not sure of final costs yet but its likely to be in the region of a new rhd steering box (not repro) Can't wait!
One of the brackets didn't fit so they're back with the engineering company. I can't see them being done by Friday so now not looking like I'll get it back this year. Hey ho, it'll be worth the wait! Happy days
This month mate (allegedly) I can't be arsed to type out everything that's gone wrong; I'll tell you at Techenders! Awaiting final (bespoke) rack now....
Tell me about it! They've done all the final measurements on a welded rack. The rack builders are doing the final versions now. Apparently all this is because both mine and Matt's buses are stock height buggering the geometry of the racks they wanted to use.... I bloody hope the wait is worth it....
Yeah that would be great, I'll give you a shout and try and come round before my hols, if not it will be in a few weeks.
Very light, that's good, but the question we are all waiting for an answer to is..... does it still blow about?
