Yep, it is!! reminding me to get out on my bike daily instead of sitting at this PC!!

  3. Nice colour interior,
Thats what i have been looking for, something the same as that ,well done looks really nice,

  4. I used to have a limited edition print signed by jo burt. I stupidly gave it to someone. A cult character in british mountainbiking.
I keep meaning to get my bike out, it's so old now it's become 'retro cool' ;)

Time for a bit of an update!! Things have been slowly ticking along over the last couple of months, snatching a few warm dry moments to paint parts of the interior as Mother Nature would allow!

So in the last week I've finished painting the rear deck with white (L90D) Rustoleum as well as the sliding door threshold. I've given it a bit of a rub down and polish, but it could do with more once it's had a couple more weeks to harden more!

I've then moved onto the cab area, stripped the pedals and shift out, removed the front seats and seatbelts and sent the appropriate metalwork off for powder coating with the engine hatch... which returned and satin-y...

And then returned the hatch to where it belongs...

So nice to see a finished part!

I've covered up all of that new shiny clean paint and moved to the front and stripped the cab floor and any other parts that had been painted or repaired by the PO.

The arch repairs aren't pretty, but are fairly robust. The drivers side has a couple of little holes alongside previous repairs which will need some attention before paint... with no foot controls I may have to see if my garage will wheel his welder round the corner and have a go!!

Found a new home for the washer bottle whilst i do this work...

And also had a quick review of the shifter... lucky I bought a new Scat one!

Today, I've been out and wrapped the drivers door in an old shower curtain in an attempt to divert water away from the inside of the van whilst it's bare metal!! I've left a nice little skirt hanging out the door and I'm sure the neighbours think I'm mental! Given a liberal brush of Kurust over the few bits of surface rust and will get out and key the paint under the seats ready for a bit of primer later or early in the week... weather dependent!

We've also made a good start stripping the Tombstones down and retrimming them, which I'm going to write up in a separate thread if anyone's interested!

I'm not certain but I think my friend painted his van with white rustolium and it turned yellow( like old gloss) within a few weeks. How long has yours been done ?

I painted some of the inside with RustSeal which is an alternative to POR15 and that has gone yellow... looks terrible and can't wait to cover that with the ply lining!!

  10. Enamel paint doesent fade or change colour over time and the high gloss shine lasts for years on end with no waxing needed:thumbsup:
Its downside is the length of time it takes to dry

Yep, think so.... it hated humidity too, which is no good in our coastal climate!

  12. can't believe ive only just seen this thread! you have amazing craftsmanship mate, i can tell your bus is going to be amazing!

  13. A lot of those modern rust treatments/coatings are designed to be used on the underside of vehicles and as such there not uv stable
Its the sunlight that turns them a funny colour or a reaction to oil or grease on a surface

How you finding the rustoleum enamel andy dude?

It's good inside where the time to dry isn't an issue. I had planned to do the roof and touch ups outside, but as I work on the street it doesn't seem plausible (dust & passers by), so may end up making a spray booth in my in-laws garden and using my brothers spray gear instead... and if i do it this way I will use normal paint.

I'm just trying to work out where to join acrylic and enamel paints on the cab steps though as this is the only area the two will meet and react. I've bought the CombiPrimer for the front which appears to be compatible with both... next few posts should cover that!

  16. Acrylic wont go over enamel but enamel will go over anything

  17. Looking good fella, I've got 1 coat of rustoleum down on the rear deck and 2 on the cargo floor, just waiting for some nice weather to carry on :)
Hatch looks good, I'm doing mine satin black too :)

That's what I thought, hence the concern about stopping the floor paint where I need it to turn from white to blue... Gave me some head scratching this afternoon!

  19. Thats the joys of paint dude:thumbsup:
