  1. someone who thinks like me , mot exemption is not a red flag to sell a DANGEROUS vehicle to some one who does not no , look at the level and standard of the high quality work being performed on here to show vehicle ie jamsey s what a vehicle show look like , hats of the the men ,WOMEN on here, to the lovely QUALITY levels of great work and some TIMES no so great ive seen soon DODGEY work from pro s and novices , BUT work was addressed , hats off ,

I bet there are not many on here who have been pulled by the old bill while driving their old buses, it’s entirely up to the owner, if you want to get an MOT get one if it’s MOT exempt you don’t have to, the choice is yours

and just a little thought before you get it MOTd , before the new MOT laws came in this year, vehicles made before1975 were only visually inspected by the tester for ommisions now they are plugged in and have to pass, just a thought, my mate is an MOT tester by the way that’s how I know all this

This says petrol vehicles used before August 1975 and diesel vehicles used before January 1980 are tested by sight. https://www.gov.uk/emissions-testing

The biggest concern i have is ..the ones who wish to drive on the road either knowing or not it's fit for the road
This daft MOT exemption may give liberation for the non mechanical minded if they can't afford to keep on top of there busses fitness for the road .
If accidents mount up on the road due to negligence of classic motors ....Don't give the authorities the opportunity to get classics of the road .

This attitude has been brought up in nearly all classic vehicle mags not just busses .
The MOT is a piece of mind thing for me ...and i fix any advisory's if brought to attention , because it will only be worse next time round .
I am quite glad i have my MOT around October because i don't use it much after that time and it is perfect for sorting out all snags .

tell your mate to re read the MOT tester manual or better still read it yourself for First hand information..

  8. Pre mot check is the way to go . I always did this even if I knew it was sound . Then it should never get flagged as failed . If on pre mot they find a whole can of worms , it’s then your choice if you get it fixed and get a proper mot or you don’t and run the risk of potential prosecution or worse . Simples really .

  13. Froma roadworthy perspective - it's more important nowadays to have a vehicle capable of withstanding a collision with a Romanian HGV on the M25......

I wouldn't put it in for an MOT because if it fails you probably won't be able to drive it as the failures will be recorded. Put it in for an unrecorded "MOT pre inspection" and then decide what to repair.
