I was more excited about seeing the look on HF's face when he realised, than the actual holiday.

I even looked at European breakdown cover, and I knew his car wasn't in the best shape but I still thought what are the chances... . We ended up spending more on oil than breakdown would've cost, but hey, you live and (probably don't) learn.

Thanks to @Baysearcher and @lost-en-france for advice. Obviously when we broke down would've been a good time to take you up on the offer of help with any problems, LeF. I probably should've checked if we would have internet connection and any way to contact you first.

HF has threatened to change my username to baguette face. And yes I agree his technique is far too 'toothy'.

Wish I lived closer to the tunnel... might be a bit obvious if I drove for 5 hours.... and in true vw style you had to have a break down x
