Lots of fuel pumping going on...help

  1. Can you help me diagnose a problem. When I go to start my camper, type 2 1976, I have to pump the accelerator probably at least 15 times before the engine kicks in. It then starts up but revs quite high. Tone tapits, done timing as best as can get, any ideas? Could the carb be faulty, or fuel pump?

Help, I am a novice when it comes to the engine!

It runs so its not likely to be the fuel pump.
Fuel mixture wrong idle screw set wrong as you have fixed other things..

Hole in inlet manifold pipe fallen off or leak in carburettor letting in air...

  3. What engine do you have in there?? 1600 single carb? or twin carbs, or a type 4 (17/18/2000cc)?

  4. Is your choke/chokes working properly?

Shouldn't have to pump the pedal when starting. If you do, you'll likely flood the engine.

  5. sounds like fuel starvation. What condition are your fuel lines in, have you got a fuel filter fitted?

  6. I'm with snotty on the lack of choke... but without knowing what engine is, it's just blind guessing as there are other factors to consider
