  1. What pump?

If it's one of those clacky facet ones throw it in the bin... it's probably on the way out!!

  2. One before and one after the pump ( electric pump ) I have looked in the tank and 1st immpressions are it looks ok

  3. pictures of fuel pump and one of the new filters fitted yesterday and not had any mileage . the filter has collected some particles which are very fine , the filter is fitted after the pump [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] do you think something is going on in the pump , like something breaking up

  4. also i have checked the carb mounting bolts and the manifold bolts / rubber elbows , i did spray wd40 on all the connections the first couple of times the engine speed picked up slightly but wouldnt do it agaiin after the engine had warmed a little , all of the bolts were tight but did pinch up slighlty

Could it be the plug leads or distributer cap breaking down as it gets hot?

  6. That's not a fuel pump that I'm familiar with... it's not one off a MG is it??

  7. Fuel pump was fitted just over a year ago by our local vw garage ,since that visit i am trying to do more myself as going to the garage is a good way to spend spend spend ,
the bottom of the pump has a letter "H " inside a triangle with either a number or name under the "H "

  8. My main issue with FPs is the plethora of pumps that people use... mostly with no pressure reg or any idea of the running pressure of the pump!! o_O

I always use a rotary pump with a preset presure of 3.5psi, which is sufficient for single and twin carbs... you only need more pressure when running turbo motors and you need some more fuel on boost :)

    That's the pump I use!! :)

  9. Got my bus fixed it was the king lead to coil that was breaking down now sitting happily at 60mph and no more loss of power happy days again.

As I said above it did sound electrical.

  11. I should get some leads ASAP

  12. The pump pictured is a HARDI. Runs at 3 psi. Got one on my bus and have had no issues with it.

Just noticed your rotor arm on another thread, that may be the culprit.

Sounds like my bus last year (fingers crossed for a better year this year) it was very intermittent but you could guarantee that on a long stretch of road it would conk out. You'd stop. Turn the key and away we went.

In the end I replaced the ignition feed wire, ignition switch. A little by-pass wire proved he could be reliable. Took the switch to bits and the main live feed was very dirty and full of what looked like carbon deposits or some such debris. Also replaced the fuel pump and main fuel hose for a metal one. Also removed the tank to check it was all clean.

It's the most annoying fault. Good luck.
