Thay have been in business for 30 year and said it will about a month befor they could take a look, 3 MOT's from them with no issues, could be though they are not short of work. I was happily driving........ The last few runs, it has been a bit juicy (was thinking it needed a bit of a tune up), this morning was a bit flat when cold (not usual) though OK when warmed up . Until pointed out I did not notice the noise, though may have been half a sleep this morning ............ once pointed out this afternoon I could hear it popping for the first 5 ish miles ... The garage did say it would be Ok once warm as you intimate.
If you want some idea yourself and have a torque wrench, you could remove the rocker assemblies and check the lower nuts yourself. If they are not loose the problem is elsewhere. Chances are tightening these to correct torque ( if they need it) could cure your problem for the time being, though realyy you should torque all 8 in a prescribed order.
I had to pop to a pals recently was panicking and had a knocking noise rolled under nipped up heat exchanger 13mm bolts under tons off stopped I'd start there and tighten the head bolts can get at behind rockers se if out changes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
