My kids were playing with some loom bands today and my wife noticed my 4 year old had put a few of them on her thumb. Her thumb had gone blue, a big panic and they were all pulled off. My missus Googled them and it seems they can be very dangerous. Now they are locked away safely, when you know its obvious but accidents happen so easily with kids. No more loom bands in my house:- This kid was eight, imagine loosing a finger because of a stupid toy:- http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/loom-bands-cause-boy-almost-3843752 Taking a picture before removing them is a bit ridiculous though.
Never liked these and have banned them from our house! If I see my children with any they go in the bin.
Yrs I've seen some stories about kids with them and what's gone wrong, expecting a child to choke on them before summer is over(not wishing) . Got two of the grandkids and parents flying tomorrow, Mrs TW had a text asking if France had them and when we replied yes the response was great we can relax as the kids are mental for them. If it was upto me I'd ban them as I only see a tragedy waiting to happen.
Feck loom bands buy them a roll of paracord http://www.instructables.com/id/Wide-Paracord-Bracelet/ When the paravan is properly mobile with the seasons i will be selling woven boxes and baskets from willow and brambles Teaching children to weave is a positive thing Its just a shame its always some marketing scam behind it nowadays
Chill Chris Both my children have cut the blood flow of to there bodys with things as simple as hair bobbles If theres danger to be had kids will find it
I am quite calm most of the time but you got to watch. There is a lot of evil vibes around at the moment I can feel it. I just don't want it near my kids.
Loom bands are great. When our dog got hold if them each of his turds came out uniform sized for the next month. Picking up his turds was real easy as they were like sausage links
apparently, they're also great for sustaining erections.....male strippers use something similar (so i've been told), but i'm not sure you'd want to make a bracelet out of it afterwards.... maybe you would? who knows?
Seeing them scattered everywhere in the streets and festivals I am also concerned about the environmental impact of these , they are however useful for securing beads in long hair ....hippy dilemma ... . Glad to gear your little one was ok ! Horrid things they remain me of crochet ....
Does anyone remember Clackers? The real ones with a tag to hold and the (extremely hard) balls on two bits of string. I spent the best part of that phase with seriously bruised wrists and a couple of kids in my school actually broke bones in their wrists.
