Just noticed thats a Westy with the bed - stand-offs fitted! Ive done a Westy replica bed for mine (I may have mentioed it!) do these just sit on the stand-offs and are bolted down or is there a board underneath?
I know. Just out of idle curiosity do you have his address including postcode? Also, apropos of nothing, do you know how much petrol you need in a Molotov cocktail?
I don't understand the question. The bed box has a floor built in, the wooden cargo floor doesn't go under it. It bolts down like you've done it I'm pretty sure or I'd have chipped in on your thread to annoy you about doing it differently.
Thought so. I actually boarded under it completely which is a complete waste of time and just extra hassle. I want to be able to whip the interior out by unbolting. Sick of woodsgcews and self tappers and everything being like a jigsaw to assemble/dissasemble. Want it to be more like mechano ie - bolts-unbolts - lifts out!
It's hardly surprising with the upsurge in popularity of these vans set against the amount of people willing to restore them that it's hard to find a restorer. If I recommend one the usual answer is "I've tried them already and they're too busy as well".
If you need to measure up again I've got a full width Continental bed base in "stock". It's knackered for using but good for templating (in conjunction with your later hinge side supports) as all the bolt cut outs are obviously in the right place and I think all the bolts are with it as well.
You'll love this then.... upscaled Meccano bridge in Little Lever.....goes over the Bolton-Bury canal....or what's left of it. Picnic table too!
PMSL In fairness I only got it last week, too late to stop the blacksmith work on the recently purchased hinges
Do what Ken did and test him on a bit first, then go back for more if you're enjoying the experience.
