late bay rev counter - what would suit?

the chap on earlybay who makes tachos is doing a late bay style, he's asking my advice but you guys know more than me so here's the message.... i'll pass it on to him

You seem to be our most active late bayer so that is why I'm in contact. I'm about to release my tachometers for a black faced late bay cluster and wanted to ask for your opinion. What colour do you think the needle should be? The centre will be black but should the needle itself be the light brown colour the speedo needle is or would white look ok.

I appreciate any feedback. Just want to get them right before I start selling them.

i didn't answer direct 'cos i know some of your earlier lates dials lookdifferent than mine and i'm not even sure with mine being a brown dash looks like most?

Surely Late speedos have a white needle (too dark to check van)?

 

doubt there's a link it was 2 and a half years ago but it's true.

 

It was probably deleted - some of the users can be dicks at times, but the moderators are usually pretty fair.

What colour is the late clock hands as I would thought they would /should match

 

Late lates have black clocks like yours, Rick. 72-74 are very similar/same as earlybay.

 

Doesn't ricks have brown clocks?

Early late bays clocks are gray But not the same as earlys


Later ones not sure of the date are black


Both with white needles but later ones have a black round bit the needle fits to


For comparison These are prototype bay

 

Early late bay ones are the same as early .i think they are early till end 73 then grey then black

 

he's more concerned with matching the needle colour, he reckons it's a off white brownly white? trouble is they have all aged in the sun etc I guess.

 

oh, and my dash surround is brown but clocks are standard

 

I looked at Matty's picture and thought I'm sure my clocks are like the top picture (I have a 1975 van) I know I'll wander down to the garage and have a look cos I'd love a rev counter. Then I realised doh the bus is still at the mechanics I'm getting withdrawal symptoms

 

Flo has clocks like Matty's top picture, she was built in 1975.
