  1. Bumper OVER RIDERS! not irons.

hey guys. i'm after some bumper over riders for the front and rear but don't want to pay loads to get them.

can anyone provide me with some basic measurements of templates etc so that I can make my own?
or know where i can get some templates?

I tried to make some by cutting cereal boxes into shape, it kind of works but I would prefer proper measurements.

  2. Front ones? What year is your van? :)

  3. ahhh Marmite.. i put bumper irons. i meant bumper over riders!! what a noob.

  4. LOL :D

That makes much more sense ;)

If someone wanted to lend me a set I could knock them up in grp ;)

  5. I think outlaw makes them himself. He has a thread for them somewhere on here. :)

  6. yeah i did PM someone, i think it may have been him. but he never got back to me. ive made some cardboard templates of the sides. the outside ones slightly deeper to allow for the curve of the bumper.

does anyone have the dimensions of the rubber strip that goes on it?
i dont know how wide or tall to make them.

Im off work tomorrow so may have a go at making some if the sun pops out.

  7. If you want cheap rubbers send me a pm or conversation what ever it is ......

Would grp ones be strong enough ....

I made mine same as og and its a lot of work in steel

  8. These days it's more about the aesthetics as opposed to a function!! ;)

So in answer to your question, they wouldn't be as strong as steel, but they would deflect to a point before they fractured, whereas steel would dent!! :)

Make them solid resin Paul.

  10. Unfortunately you can't... the heat generated by the resin curing causes it to crack, and it'd probably bust the mould too o_O

  12. :p

    I was explaining ;)

  13. Do you you have ribbed and flavours? ;)

  14. What ever colour you want

  15. In strawberry

  16. Untill my bus is finished

Then we have a combination of function formost but combined with good asthetics

To me that seemed the design brief behind the original busses
Everyone loves the looks of these old busses/vans
However seldom few know how great they were at what they did in different conditions all around the world
And they look quirky and pretty aswell

The good looks is a busses bonus feature everything else is well thought out engineering to cover a wide range of need from the end user

  17. I started making some today.. havent come out too badly. Pics in my resto thread if anyone wants to look.

  19. Yeah at first i though, meh.
But i got the 2nd one nearly done, put them both on and it looks pretty good. I think once theyre completely smooth and painted white they will look good.

I need to figure out a way to bolt them on. Anyone got any ideas?
I though maybe a long coach bolt straight through into the deformation panel, but i wouldnt be able to do it up! :/
