Jk's policy discourse on quality of parts.

Well, I've just ordered a few bits this morning over the phone this morning, haven't used them for ages fingers crossed they deliver when the say.
Deliveries used to be a bit hit and miss with JK.
Its good to see companies listening to what the customer says and act on it, looks like you've had a big shake up.

 

Deliveries have improved massively since we stopped using City Link and moved to Interlink Express, which changed about two years ago, I believe.
We're now able to offer a one hour delivery slot, which is sent out via SMS and / or email on the day of delivery, which a lot of customers are finding really useful

Thats good news I hate having deliveries from Sh11ty link. The amount off things they have lost for me or reckon they have tried to deliver but left no card in the door?????
Had to have it delivered to the in-laws cos I'm not around.

 

Imagine the same problems, but on a business scale!
Since we swapped over to Interlink the feedback from customers about deliveries has been fantastic

 

Josh will this preservation parts range include og spec heat exchangers?

The fit of the repro ones avialable now is decent enough however they have a different shaped internal pipe and less fins
This gives out a lot less heat than original heat exchangers which makes them pretty useless for the uk climate

If jk could go one step above and supply stainless steel heat exchangers with the same specification internals as the original ones
Id be willing to pay more for them than the repros available at the moment

 

Two cost /usage product streams and a first class delivery service certainly seems the way to go. I'm aware of at least a couple of companies (nonVW) operating a dual product system on some of their range and by all accounts it works very well .

 

3 choices is the tried and trusted way to steer people into buying what you want.
1 bit of obvious tat.
The one you want to sell with a good profit margin.
1 really expensive one that makes you wince.
Everyone buys the middle one, which is the only one you need to stock in large numbers, so get good price and nice profit.

Original spec stainless heat exchangers are definitely on our list of parts to go out and produce ourselves, as we're very aware of the issues you've mentioned above with the current repro ones available on the market, but it's going to take us a while to find some suitable original examples, a place capable of manufacturing them to the quality we want etc, so for the moment it's just a case of 'watch this space', but we're definitely keen to start doing them as soon as we're able

I've bought £1000's of stuff from JK and indeed similar amounts from other VW suppliers.
FACT: You get what you pay for with JK, if it's massively cheaper than everyone else there's a reason for this. I've had some wonderful kit and some, shall we say, dubious quality. Swings and roundabouts.
At least they're trying and listening and not just ripping the arse out of you with 'Scene Tax'.
Everyone will have had good and bad experiences, for my part I really rate Machine 7 for service levels.
If you go to anywhere other than a main dealer for servicing then you can choose OE or pattern parts, this has been the case for at least 30 years to my knowledge, again, you pays your money etc etc..............
Some pattern stuff is as good as OE, most isn't and the price reflects this. (although I do know that Bosch ECU's are less than 50% of Volvo ones and are EXACTLY the same. £350 vs £800 for a different colour cardboard box!)
Different people want different things, some just want to keep their Bus going, others are looking for nut and bolt perfection.
Credit should be given to JK for what they're trying to do. I wish them the best of luck.

Luckily the more 'dubious quality' parts have largely been escorted from the building and shown the way to the skip in recent months

 

Make sure that skips secure otherwsie all those bits will end up on ebay lol

 

It's all been sorted out by now, sent of to various recycling places

 

Would the obvious tat be labelled as such afterall one well known trademark owner markets expensive tat?

 

what is with the 2 pages of spammers every morning on the forum ,it kinda puts you off giving your credit card details for parts....

 

Fortunately there forum is run on a separate system, so there's no way that the spammers can access anything on the 'main' site.
We're working on the spam issue at the moment, but all the measures that we've deployed against the spammers so far haven't worked, so we're back to square one for the moment, but it is being worked away at here at JK HQ.

So far so good looks like the delivery is on its way, given an hour time slot. Makes things so much more better.

Managed to text the out laws to let them know, I'm in Italy at the moment but it's good to know its getting there for me ready for when I get home.

Do JK send an elf to fit it for me? So it's all Done.

 

As this is TLB, we should probably send gnomes, right?
