I made an oval box for my grown up daughter Rebecca so she had somewhere to put the comforter that she had when she was a baby. Because of the state the comforter got into it became known as "Crusty". It's made from Mahogany, Indian Laurel and Canadian White Elm veneers with black velvet inside. With the waste wood from the box I made lots of keyrings for the family. She also makes lots of cakes so as a surprise I made a cake for her .... from wood. This time plain old MDF. Still in the form of a box but only for small things. She loved the cake box and asked if I would make her some more. They aren't quite russian doll type boxes because I never thought about that before I made them but they 'almost' fit inside each other. I'll stick up some pictures of other stuff I've made if anyone's interested.
Dude they are brilliant! You have a real talent & I'm well jealous that you have a shed to express your talent in please don't start a show us your shed thread as I may cry
Hi Brucieboy, I make them on a scrollsaw, or fretsaw as it used to be called until the Americans got hold of it.
No problem, it might be in different wood as I think I've used the last of the Mahogany. Think I may have some English Oak though. If you really do want them send me your address and I'll post them out to you. I don't know what the equivalent of a PM is on the new site. Total cost = a beer when we next meet.
These are some boxes I'm doing at the moment. This was supposed to look like a wrapped up present ...... FAIL! decided that all well wrapped presents have ribbon around them. On the inside I used a soft green flock I quite liked how this turned out so with the waste wood from the big box I've started to make a smaller one. The ribbon on this one is made out of coffee stirrers from McDonalds
aww thats lovely but i could't just do that, you obviously put a lot of work into them! i'll inbox you and we can discuss... x
