when inside the van i really struggle to open the door - you have to lift the handle fully up towards the rear of the van (so in effect 90 degrees) should you be able to push it forward towards the front and it open? the handle goes that way about 15 degrees but does nothing.
You should be pushing towards the bulkhead. Mirroring how its done outside Does your method open the door??
yes it's the only way i've ever got out - if i push the handle up and forward towards the passenger seat it does nothing.
My handle points down and l just pull it towards the rear. l can't push it forward and l'm sure it only needs around 40 degree angle before it opens. l look like quite nuts now as l try and physically open my door. You may need to check, clean and adjust the internal cables.
ok paul cheers i gotta take the inside wood panel off so i'll look, occasionally the outer handle feels notchy so it's probably that, i just thought it was strange it pushed forwards inside but did nothing
The forward motion is to release the door from its latched open position on the middle runner bump stop That is if the spring in the bump stop isn't broken, or the bump stop bracket on the door is hooked up correctly
ooooh every days a school day,,,, if i have it latched open i shut/unlatch it from outside - will play tomorrow with the inner handle once it's open.
It's ok... took me that long to realise that my light switch in my first beetle had a rheostat in it to dim the dash lights!! I was 19 tho
