Inner Sill , Jacking Point Alignment .....

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by motorcycleemptyness, Aug 1, 2013.

  1. Looking at my pictures can you tell me if the inner sill , jacking point etc look to be in the correct positions ? Is the inner sill supposed to fit flush with the closing panel on the front of the b post ? or does it protrude through ? Didn't have much to reference from so any help would be greatly appreciated 2013-07-29 19.25.28.jpg 2013-07-29 19.25.16.jpg 2013-07-29 19.25.02.jpg 2013-07-29 19.25.28.jpg 2013-07-29 19.25.16.jpg 2013-07-29 19.25.02.jpg

  2. The jacking point should sit directly under the top hat section that runs the width of the van, so unless you've replaced the whole thing and moved it forwards it should be fine, the sills.. I put mine on the other week and there's a bit poking out about 1cm into the tub, so I'm guessing this is normal. Not 100% though

  3. The jacking point does sit directly under the top hat , no problem , however if i align the inner sill with where the rear arch will meet it , it protrudes through the tub about the same as you are describing

  4. Mine were the same on both sides, as Carl says about 1cm stick out in to the tub

  5. Yep same as above picture, you might want to drill a few holes so as to "Dinitrol" when painted .

  6. Nice one , thanks for your help guys
And now onto my second question......

    Inner B post panel and outer B post Panel , How do they align ? Please see pics. 2013-07-29 19.48.32.jpg 2013-07-29 19.48.24.jpg 2013-07-29 19.48.04.jpg

  7. What do you mean by this ?

  8. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Back to this one, the jacking point and top hat look too far to the left, they should line up with the B post. Might just be the picture.

  10. ^ but then water can get in? :(

I'm in the exact same boat as you with the b post. The inner b post seems a horrible fit unless I'm doing it wrong.

  11. You fit little bungs in the holes after appyling the cavity wax to stop water ingress

  12. This^^

Each end of the sills were drilled and bunged from factory so you could apply cavity wax

  13. You pop grommets in after "Dinotroling", how else are you gonna treat the inner cills ?
Well that was copied from my old cill, well what was left of it !!!

  14. Don't know, I'm new to this. Guess I need to add dinitrol and 4 rubber bungs to the shopping list?
