Innapropriate behaviour

having just arrived back from the late bay meet at the viking volks fest i feel i must raise the issue of the behaviour of some of the late bay members. while i understand people go to these meetings to enjoy a drink and let there hair down , i was shocked to see the excessive amount or drinking that seems to be the norm , not to mention the the pressure that is placed upon the more reserved members to drink excessively as well.
I was also shocked to see the blatant disregard for saftey , with bonfires burning without a fire bucket or extinguiser in sight
I must also mention the foul language and general inappropriate behaviour that is banded about in front of small children,
and loud music carrying on into the early hours of the morning dispite noise cerfews clearley mentioned in the site rules.
It is not surprising such a large percentage (feel free to fill an the blanks A ) of LBers decide not to attend these meetings
Thay can appear to be very cliquie and intimidatig to new members
I am sorry it has had to come to this but i feel this should be said .

I have to say that the drinking thing is why I don't join the camp fire if I camp with TLB...

 

The late bay is a forum not an organised event - surely the actions of some people can not be blamed on the site just because they attend? members cannot be moderated in a field and only official organised late bay meets can be judged if they do go badly?

 

Most of the late bayers are warm and welcoming,
I think its just a few of the hard core who seem to go a little to far

 

Was it latebayers from 'TheLateBay' or was it people who happen to have late bays?

Makes a change we can't blame Rick for this......

Im glad to hear that . that kind of behaviour is uncalled for and will only give TLB a bad name at large shows.

 

To a degree i,m with bugcatcher on this one.The drinking issue, well I probably would be guilty of taking part in that, but dont force others to imbibe as much and make them feel uncomfortable.
The bonfire stuff wouldnt have occured to me.
The lousy behaviour in front of kids is the one that gets my goat. I left my local club because of this.They used to have the kids sitting on laps and effing and blinding like it was a building site. I know times have changed ( mores the pity) and bad language seems to be the norm nowadays. Folk seem incapable of knowing when to turn it off and i find it embarassing.
Best to move away and have your own party I think.

 

At this weekends Grill n Chill TLB was a nice place to be. All the people were great.

 

A vee dub event is going to have people who want to let thier hair down, you only have to camp at any of the big shows like vw action or bug jam ect.

There are going to be people from all walks of life who share a common interest in vee dubs and as such you cant regulate such things as fire safety ect or how people behave. Some people will wanna stay up and get boozed up some will wanna chil out in thier vans with thier families. Thats why i love these events because of the differant people you meet.

Sure if someone is being too loud ect. Just mention it, iam sure people would oblige.

There are some great people on this site and everyone has an equal right to enjoy themselves. At the end of the day like i sometimes do at these events if iam bringing my family we will park ours in a quiet area, or if iam on my own with my mates ill park up in the middle of it.

You cant beat a good dub show for atmosphere, but like any show or indeed festival peaple will wanna have fun.
