Hi All, VW jim a well known member of the SSVC is thinking of doing a bulk buy of igition123 units and is gauging interest of people interested in a ignition123 (all VW models available). Its on his facebook page as can be seen on the screenshot below, no prices yet but as with all group/ bulk buys the more people the better the discount. So if you are interested head over and register your interest I have bought from Jim before and hand great service. Thanks, Harry
fair enough... he does have a website which you could send him a message and say you have been made aware of the bulk buy and register interest?
Mecatechnic was the cheapest I could find. https://www.mecatechnic.com/fr-FR/a...eryString=123Volkswagen > VW Combi Bay Window
I bought a mine few years ago direct from them in the Netherlands it worked out a lot less than any U.K. seller
I saw this on FB myself , never heard of theses distributors before but they sound good , I like the idea of the one that can be configure via app/ Bluetooth ... not that I want one or would know what to do with it .. I just like the nerdy ness of it
Getting ahead of myself here (considering I don’t have a roof on and the thing won’t even start ) but I have been advised to get a distributor with Vacuum Advance and do a modification to my Kadron carbs. I’m curious...does the Tune+ version: -have a Vacuum Advance on it? -Require a Vacuum Advance put on it? -Render a Vacuum Advance unnecessary? Yep...I don’t know anything about these things! I wouldn’t get the Tune one. How would you know that your fiddling has done any good? The vac advance one (-R-V?) is the one to get. If you don’t use the vac advance, just leave the thing unconnected and it won’t do anything.
Ha ha yes, totally true that at present any fiddling would likely end in tears! However, i’d like to learn how to fiddle like a pro...eventually. Seems regular tweaking really helps how these things run. Far too many jokes to be had there. “Hassle free” sounds like a good selling point. As does the security side of things if it acts like an immobilise (a £ saving there, especially if Insurance recognise it ). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So which 1 is best for 1641 on a standard carb and exhaust, I have a pair of ICT on the bench but wait for it a 009 distributor..it runs absolutely fine so what will one improve apart from my pulling power with the ladies obviously.....
Prices are now in on vwjims website see below, it will still let you order even though it states out of stock
Just the vac advance one will do nicely. The distributor/ignition has nowt to do with what carbs or exhaust are fitted.
Someone said ICT carbs work great with an 009 something to do with the balance or pulse from the carb so didn't know if a 123 without vac would work or not
if anybody is interested, I have just ordered the VW-R-V the one with vacuum and using the discount code "Bank Transfer" it came to £240.80 and that's including the postage. If you do use the Bank Transfer discount code you have to pay by bank transfer. Thanks, Harry
A 123 would function exactly the as a 009, except probably with a better advance curve. If you're thinking of getting one, get the RV. You can use the vacuum advance feature or just not connect it. If you get the non-vac version, you can't add vacuum support later (without buying another one). I've run one for about 10 years, first with a stock Solex, then with dual Dells, and it's been completely reliable (...tempting fate here...). A no-brainer IMHO if you've got spare funds.
