Morning all, I think my idler pin needs doing. The local mechanic reckons I just need to grease it up... Only problem is I don't even know where it, or the grease nipple, is! Anyone got a photo or dummies guide please? Cheers D
Its in the center of your beam it looks like a box shape with an arm on top of it the grease nipple is located on the front
You will need to jack up the front a little as the anti roll bar obstructs access when the vehicle is standing normaly.
It's kinda grubby, but I took this before I started doing mine recently... the grease nipple is somewhere in the middle. It was very obvious to me that mine needed doing - with the front jacked up, the whole assembly had lateral movement when the steering was turned!
Excellent, I greased that at Techenders a few years ago, I shall do it again (when I've bought a gun) What grease should I use? Multi purpose EP2 Lithium grease? Cheers gents
Bog standard Castrol LM or any similar multi-purpose grease such as that under the Comma brand will be okay.
Might aswell do the other grease nipples on the beam whilst your at it dude Wheels of the ground whilst you do it
End of the beam tubes where it meets the turrets are the other ones easy to see once your under there and easy to fill with a flexi nozzle on the grease gun Front wheels need to be off the ground and keep pumping till the grease seeps out of the end of the torsion tubes
I did it at Techenders years ago but can't remember how many nipples there were or even where they were. I was probably drunk. Of course I could just go and look but its easier to know before I get under the bus.
