I need the Right exhaust?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Monkpuss, Mar 8, 2013.

  1. Can anyone help please:)

Looking for a new exhaust for my bus, just a simple exhaust will do but must be half decent and doesn't cost the earth!

I've at looked at machine 7, heritage , and so on but cant seem to find the right one to suit my heat exchangers, as you can see from the pictures theres only a single hole on the heat exchangers and the double hole on all the exhaust must be euro spec or some ting? correct me if i'm wrong???

    Its a 76 2.0i from the USA.

    Cheers:thumbsup:

yep you have single hole on a three bolt triangular flange..you have a cali' spec exhaust. Do the heat ex's have a 180' bend on the back and a pipe near the silencer crossong right to left?

** just checked your pics, you have the same system as I have & probably Birdy & Rickyroo.

  3. How much is not a fortune??

  4. Hey,

Yeah they do have the 180' bend at the back, what have you guys done?

Theres not much wrong with the exhaust i have, just want one that hasnt got all the emission junk on it and some thing abit more shiney shiney:rolleyes:

  5. Can you make one then Paul ;)

  6. I can... but I have nothing to base one on at the moment... I'm waiting on the nod from someone with a US bay that is in need of an exhaust, then I was going to make a jig for reproduction!!

When I costed up about 6/7 months ago it was going to be around the £350 mark in stainless :)

  7. I was looking to pay around the £350 mark to be fair.

The only trouble is i'm in need of an exhaust but i still need my old one until i find a new one:confused:

  8. Well if I could get hold of some US heater boxes, I could build a system up on my mock block!!

  9. Why did i think buying an exhaust would be so straight forward and turns out to be a right mare

  10. If it was easy, it wouldn't be fun ;)

It sure is Monkpuss! I've rebuilt ours as it was easier than trying to track down obsolete parts. You can convert to euro spec but you need other parts too

  12. Monkpuss - when you do manage to replace yours I'd be interested in taking your old one off your hands as it looks better than mine!
