Hub stud

  1. Right so took off rear wheel to get at cv boot easier, changed boot and replaced shock absorber but have discovered I have a sheared off stud! Wheel held on with four nuts and studs! Anyway have bought a new rear stud and on looking at it I have to undo the 46mm castle nut. Is there any other way of replacing the broken stud without removing the nut and rear hub?

  2. you should just be able to get it in if you take the brake shoes out!!

Pop the new stud in, and wind it in with the wheel nut... Put the wheel on too!!

  3. Cool, cheers Paul. Will have a go. Just reluctant to remove the castle nut if I didn't have to. :)

  4. Yeah, I generally cut the hub nut off and bung new ones on!! A possible 40 years of non removal usually means you can't undo them!!

  5. It's snapped off inline with the hub fella so will probably have to heat it up and whack it with a hammer before fitting new one.

  6. you won't need to heat it!! It'll just drive out!!

  7. Oh rite. Even better. Cheers.
Don't know if you saw my other post earlier? Just wondered if you had any idea on prices for the grp lower tinware for type 4 engines as yet?
Drop me a pm, thanks again.
