Recently had a lead go on the way down to Devon so stopped of at GSF Bristol and picked up a set, they only had the budget ones in stock but they got me on my way.
This week I have upgraded my dizzy and coil to a Pertronix electrobic set up so thought I would fit the leads to suit.
My question is they fit fine at the dizzy but seem to sit loose on the plug, I would expect something to grip the plug, am I right or do they just sit loose?

  2. Cheapo leads usualy are a bit naff on the plug connections. If your old caps were ok swap em over if they are screw in types. Keep the longest old lead as a get out of jail card in the van. If its not the shot one of cours

They are the 7mm pertronix leads and I've checked the part number on their website and they should be the correct ones. The connection is similar to the dizzy end rather than smaller with a grip wire like the old ones, the connection just seems wrong but they are the right lengths etc

  4. Have a look inside the cap on the ht lead... You might need to screw the nipple back on to the spark plugs!!

Pertronix lead on left, old on right. Anything look odd?

  6. Like the Man said, you’re missing the alloy screw on bit that come with the Spark plugs as standard, I got caught last year with exactly the same issue, I replaced the plugs unscrewed the caps on the plugs and threw them away, :) Fitted my new leads this year and had to get four caps from NGK .

Look careful and you can see the clamping wire that grips the thread on top of the Spark plug on your Old leads.

You need new plugs OR if you can locate the caps that came on the plugs screw them back on
