How old are us latebayers ?

funny you should say that but in my case absolutely not. i could never see the point of wheezy air cooled things and grew up with mk2 escorts, golf gti's etc. life moves on and times changes, my first van arrived shortly after our son was born only to be sold when my daughter arrived due to lack of use when she was little. fast forward a few years and the urge for another van was too great and we bought another. followed by a 65 beetle. still love my hot hatches and fast fords but have a new found love for the relative simplicity of air cooled stuff vw's .... hopefully i can infect the kids with this otherwise they will end up driving soulless euro boxes.

 

In my case I had £400 my dad gave me to buy my first car! We never had a car before this.
It was a choice between a Moggy and a Beetle. The Moggy was a rotbox but the beetle wasn't ( well...) i just loved it. But it was to get me to my first job however I got into the VW scene just by accident but I always loved classics so did flick between them and beetles but they were for practical use not an indulence. Plus of course they were cheap to run and I could fix them myself. So here I am in 2014! 1986 was a long time ago and still I have rust and oil in my veins , I just never learn! Enjoy your VW's.....
