I was asked this by the local scrap man the other day when i was fitting my cab mats , in fairness he was just joking and we had a laugh about it but it lead on to a conversation about prices and how they have risen , he asked me seriously what i thought it was worth and i had to answer honestly that i did not know , he guessed £15k and i said " sold " he was surprised that it wasn't worth that much , the conversation then turned to rarity , quality of rebuild , originality etc , but tbh i still couldn't say what my van was worth , i just accept that the insurance company will give me £15k if it gets written off , i don't know if that is enough to replace it but it never cost me that much so in that scenario it would be - profit and goodbye vw camper . He is a well established and respected local scrapman that i have known for years so not your run of the mill pikey robber type and he does know his old cars . What's your's worth , do you know ?
I devalued mine when I removed the original German Wifflewafflerhausen and let the original air out of the tyres
og westy air in the tyres , gone you say - MISSS TAKE I have some og factory westy factory that i scooped into jar when i removed the wardrobe -- priceless
I don't care what mines "worth". I'm falling back in love with it so it'll be staying for a while yet.
15k poptop you are in cuckoo land .... The t25 is worth 50 quid at the scrappers ,the pickup is probably worth less...
Do you really believe that? Any valuation, agreed or otherwise is the MAX price they would pay out. You can bet it wouldn't be easy to achieve.
Is that heresay or fact. I'd assumed that if my van was written off or stolen and not recovered that I would receive the agreed value. I think the clue is in the words 'agreed value'. If they don't pay that amount then what's the point of having it in the first place?
I asked Cherished this and they confirmed the agreed value is what IS paid in the event of a total loss claim. To be fair though they also confirmed their European Breakdown cover included re-patriation which turned out to be *****.
That's what I was told while speaking to someone while trying to arrange cover for mine. Could be rubbish, but he souded convincing.
Agreed value protects them as well - they get a fixed value so if it's nicked or a write off you can't just go and claim that the equivalent van is a newly imported and restored Australian bay at £30k. I also assume that the premium reflects the agreed value, so a high value means a bigger premium.
It is the agreed replacement or repair value i won't say what i think of that but it seems like ithe nsurance company have it wrong!
It won't have been the first time an insurance agent spoke from his bottom... I'm trying to remember another one I was told...
