I'm in that horrible period when I'm planning the resto but haven't actually got the van here yet!!! I need to know what chairs we've got but all I've got it the picture from the website.... Does anyone know what seats these are, all I can add is they are quite comfy and have headrests. Cheers!
Did you drive the van yet? Can you reach the pedals comfortably or does your head nearly touch gone roof?
Thanks chaps! They look comfy - yes I'd assumed they were not Bay seats and had been replaced at some point trying to find out what they are to see if I can get the recovered to match the new r&r bed we're putting in. Joker I'd never be able to reach the pedals (I'm a right shortarse!) hubby drove it and said he could reach the pedals fine, not touching the roof and he's 6ft. Looks like I 'm checking out volvo and saab seats then! Although somehow I don't think theyll be selling vinyl slip covers.....
If you want them recovered anyway I'd ditch them and go for some good original seats. T3 seats fit straight on late bay runners and can be more comfy. I've sat in and driven loads of bays, with all sorts of seats and no replacements really put you in a comfortable driving pisition. I'm average height but usually find myself stretching for the pedals and looking out the top 20% of the windscreen.
Not to mention the reduced space between the top of my legs and the steering wheel. Have to have the seat further forward than with normal seats and some have weird seatbealt which are barely long enough so can't lean forward to check traffic at junctions. Sorry, I seem to have gone on a bit of a rant. Don't get me started on side steps and eyelids
Not a fan then? So t3 seats as in from a t25? hmm might have to try my dads new ones if they are! ps) That isn't you is it Sarah?
Yep, t25. Some have headrests and arm rests. Proper comfy and good drivibg position. All depends how your sweedish seats have been fitted though. Some people butcher out the vw runners making going back to proper seats more of a faff. Yep. It's me
hehe cool - long time no see! I didn't think there'd be another in Bristol! Maybe I should have gutted Vobster when I got rid of him then I'd've had some seats to go straight in (assuming runners are still there). x
What happened to vobster? There's losds of yhings I think i should have kept over the years. But space is a premium and can't know what you might need in the future
E His head gasket went so we had it rebored. Then it went again 6 months later. Couldnt afford to get him fixed so sold him to my dad. He fixed him , new engine, new panels, respray. Then he sold him on. Vobster died when his name was painted over.... We spent one more night in him but it just wast the same.... But now we're back, with a bay!!! And I'm very excited!
New van sounds exciting. When do you get it? Still got any of the others? You used to have loads of cars between you
Porsche 911/Boxster seats are spot on. I'm 6', other half is 5' 2". Suit us both. We had vauxhall Sri seats before, they too were very comfy. We're currently using stock van seats. They are sprung too much so I'm constantly readjusting my sitting position and always feel like I'm falling off the left of the seat in cornering. Will be putting a boxster seat in there as a temp measure
Haha yes we had about 7 i think!!! No they all went 1 by one, last one was our 67 notchback. Still got 4 between us but thats includes the new bay, Paul's workvan, a small runaround for me and a 110 defender, rather less exciting that 7 VWs!!! We pick up the Bay end of next week havent sorted which day yet. We'll bring it home, pop it on the drive, make a cuppa, sit in the back (yes I know its completely gutted!) and just stare at nothing with a great big grins on our faces, before it head off to the unit to get transformed!!!
