How do i persuade my missus to come camping?

  1. I went to the volkspower show last year for the day and to tatton park this year but have not managed to get the missus to come to any show for the weekend for ages.
Camperjam in 2010 was the last show we camped at for the whole weekend. :(

I think its probably down to the cost involved. Fuel for 100+ miles each way then the entry fee plus food etc makes for a good couple hundred quid for a weekend at something my missus just isn't interested in.

How do i persuade my missus to come camping?

my mrs don't like shows or moreso the camping with people in a group either, she loves it when we go alone or in a very small group so i feel for you 'cos i love the group stuff, you just gotta do a bit of each and maybe the odd show alone i reckon

  8. Just tell her there be plenty of spare there if you go on your own....lol.
    never worked for me.

  9. Go camping in a 5 star hotel with pool and room service. Sorted.

Better than a draughty delivery van.

Is it camping generally or mostly shows she doesn't like?

If it's shows it's probably because you spend hours looking at engines ;)

Some where she may like so you dont spend all the time on the camp site and promise to take her out for an evening meal rather than eating in the van :)

  16. bernjb56, its mostly vw shows (and as you suggest that is probably the reason she doesn't like them), though we've not been camping anywhere for a few years either. :(
Last time sleeping in the camper was the night after our friends wedding last august.

  18. I can answer this! My dream was to go camping everywhere. Not my wife's though. She hates it. So, on our first camping trip 2 weeks ago, I made sure everything was as nice as it could possibly be. I wanted to set a challenge for her to say to me, at the end of the trip, 'when can we do this again?'. Funny. She use to hate the bus. But during our 6 hour drive to the campsite, she really started to fall in love with it. It always amuses me how these old VW buses have the power to do that. What swung it though was the Outwell Country Road awning (complete with it's own comfy fluffy carpet) I'd bought a few days before, and a fold-up dining table, a nice cooker, a blow-up sofa with a nice throw-over, a nice fold-up wardrobe for the food and pots n pans, lights, electric, the works. She loved that extra bit of space and luxury. Went down a treat. At the end of it all she said 'you were right, I did really love it, I do really see the attraction, when can we do it again?'.

  19. Take all the money & credit cards with you, turn off the gas, water & electric, then ask her "are you coming dear?"
    :)

  20. Try camping at a shopping mall
