I've always adjusted valve clearances first thing in the morning, after a full night of allowing the engine to cool to ambient temperature. Is this necessary, or can I drive for a minute or so to a flat area of ground?
Just wait until the engine's cooled down. If they're warm, you can do 'em: no need to wait till 6am Laurie Pettit once made the point that a busy VW dealer couldn't leave everything overnight before adjusting, or they'd never get anything done...
