  1. I have made a decision to put it in the engine bay. seems the logical, out of the weather choice.

Apart from the heat, fuel vapours and the risk of the engine lid damaging the cable.

I would put it underneath they are designed to withstand water splashes

  5. Is it easy to install yourself? Or is it best to pay a special person?

  6. I installed all mine myself but got an electrician to check it all. I am lucky, my mate is a sparky. I just wanted to know it was all earthed well. The actual fitting is easy.

Yes if the wiring is capable of that current.

The JK kit comes with one 8A and one 16A plug socket with cabling rated accordingly. We have had no issues whatsoever.

  9. Thanks, I didn’t know whether you had to fit a 32amp.but most I’ve seen are 16,this is a job I need to do soon

If you find a campsite capable of supplying more than 16a I'll eat my hat.
    32A is 7.5kw!

I wouldn't worry about water ingress TBH, my boat hookup is always full of water when I unplug it and so are everyone elses.

They are designed so the water runs out, they are not waterproof as such .
They are designed so there is a lot of insulator between live and anything else, and the earth pin is longer than live / neutral so it connects first.

On my under bus one, the spring holding the flap down doesnt always work but it doesnt matter.

The only fault is that slugs like living in the plugs, and a slug connects live and neutral and blows the fuse..
