Another vote for the Moka Express. Makes great coffee. Ours is used every day, and comes on holiday with us too. The Atomic does look very cool (not seen one before), but I like the simplicity of mine (less to wash up!)
Ummm.... I might have stumbled across a bargainous very early (C1950) model.... and another bargainous mint condition repro...
I also had to google (well not actually google) that. I do occasionally trim my nose hairs, does that count? I ought to do my ears too really... In purely practical terms I have occasionally wondered if an arse trim might help with clagnuts. I just don't think I could keep up with the regular maintenance - the camper is bad enough. Use duckduckgo instead of Google.
Its not a true 'Espresso' machine, but or £20 or so, you could do a lot worse than an AeroPress: We use ours, not just in Harvey, but have taken on holiday, or at least on holiday to places where we can't be guaranteed that the natives know how to do proper coffee....and it does make good coffee P.
Hehe... but think of all those bits to wash up. Besides, getting a frothy coffee is good for an excuse to leave the house/camper - and at the price you can afford a few... That said I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for a cheap Atomic now! Aluminium is a bit of a pain as it can start to corrode if you leave it unwashed/undried for too long... also they used to say that it causes Alzheimers, although seems that that was never proved (current advice is it's OK). I bet it brews up quicker than stainless (and uses less gas) though. Looks nicer too, IMO. At work we've got a serious, vintage coffee machine, I forget the make but it's the real deal, with a proper manual lever and everything. We used to have daily deliveries of fancy organic coffee beans, too. I could never make a decent cup of coffee in it...a couple of the people I worked with cracked it but I didn't have the patience. Whatever machine you use, it's mostly about technique IMO. Maybe worth it if you drink coffee all day. For me it's all about the one in the morning - any additional cups are pure luxury, and I enjoy having someone else make 'em for me.
I use one of these, good coffee. Grinding is the pain, not making the coffee. The atomic does look amazing though.
Do it! Join the unofficial Club Atomic UK. As a kind of justification, the weekend after I bought my Atomic was Bristol Volksfest (2007???) and we could have got a paper cup of fluffy coffee for about £2.50 a hit. There were two of us, drinking 2-3 cups a day over the weekend - Fri, Sat, Sun - totalling maybe 16 cups, or a £40 equivalent, at the show. Add to that the rest of the friends and club members we were with that partook in our services and you can more than double that amount. So, if you took the base coffee and milk out of the equation, then that's a saving of more than £80 over just one show weekend for, in my opinion, a far superior cuppa. A couple of shows and camping trips and it's more than paid for. Anyway, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it Also, if you wanted stainless, then there's a fairly recent take on the Atomic called an Otto - not sure where you can get them from, but they do appear for sale every now and then
