HS2000E this one it seems has the ability to run off your hook up. Or HS2000 this is the one Just Kampers is selling. They are not offering the first model and am wondering if there is a reason for that? Is there a reason not to go for the version with the ability to hook up to electrics also? Would really like some advice from someone who has done there research into this. Cheers for any info guys.
£200 more for the E version which includes an electric heater element up to 2kw probably quieter on electric operation. How long would it be before you've saved £200 of gas? Would you be paying for hookup regardless or just use your LB?
buy a £10 convector heater from argos for hook up days, use propex gas for non hook up, save money, as scote says there's a lot of gas for £200.....
Thank you for your advice guys. Some very good points made. Most people go for the non hook up version then?
Next dumb question to you dudes... There are two versions on Just Kampers There is a normal version for £439.50 http://www.justkampers.com/shop/propex-hs2000-interior-12v-heating-system-j18073.html There is the kit version for same price of £439.50 http://www.justkampers.com/shop/propex-heatsource-kit-j19842.html Are these the same but its just a deal for the same price and you get the kit or am I missing something? Also I was under the impression that you wire the Propex into your vans heating? Is this wrong or can you choose to have it just going into its own vents supplied in the bundle under the seats? Lastly (the usual question that I should know by now when I was doing my research ages back) but can you use the Propex heater whilst moving?
...and no, you don't plumb it into the van's heating system. Probably possible, but hard work and no benefit I can see other than de-misting the screen perhaps.
Both! Most people use the vents supplied as a completely separate system. Bluebird show a kit that tees into the heating on the bus but I have not seen it done. I'm in the process of fitting the unit under the r/r bed and running an insulated pipe under the floor alongside the normal heater tube to feed the vent in the walkthrough. It does involve cutting a hole in the floor and getting a tube fabricated and fitted, but should mean I have no additional vents on display inside the bus.
Perfect. This is all great news and very helpful. Can you use this heater whilst driving or only when parked?
I think our exhaust is in a standard place? Please see a few pics. Does that mean we can or cant use it whilst driving?
no exhaust on the heater, it has to clear the side of the van to prevent the gas's getting blown back into the van, its all clear in the instructions.
yep will be fine, I'm on about the exhaust that comes of the heater, as the exhaust comes out of the bottom of the van. Sorry probably wasn't very clear in the first place, :-
I've got the gas only propex and generally use it for commuting and warming up after a day trip out like at Tatton yesterday , as most have said I would use electric heater from hookup on camp sites I guess if you got the dearer model you've got it covered especially if you stay on a site without hookup available
You can use while driving as long as the propex exhaust faces backwards (so the wind doesn't blow up it).
