Hello from an oldie newbie.

  1. Don't forget the vending machines dispensing schoolgirl panties - worn once.

  2. Ok well the update is that I have found a brand new old stock Devon doubletop roof to put on so I will be able to get the nasty speedboat off and be able to fit in car parks by the beach! Looking forward to that that's for sure. I have been patching the floor, wheel arches and a stripping filler and rust to see what I have to work with and haven't found anything scary yet. The engine has a few more issues than expected and could be a problem for me. The thermostat and all linkages and flaps seem to be missing along with the tin panel that covers the thermostat and the bracket to hold it. I need to source all that. The engine is running much smoother after timing and valves set so she runs sweeter. Gearbox is like stirring soup and jumps out of first on overrun which I think may be the linkage? Any ideas? Thanks to all for the great welcome and hope to meet up with more van owners in the future.

  3. jumping out of first gear is probably a worn coupler at the g/box end, or badly adjusted gate.....or a combination of the two....(gate plate is below the gear stick)....it's an intuitive procedure to set up....sort the coupler first and work up from there....

  4. Thanks for that. From what I read it looked like that was the place to start. I think the coupling is broken and so it looks like that will be it. I was just worried it might be the box itself. Thanks again. Will get a new coupling and see what it's like.
