  1. Hi I thought I would say hello and thank you for letting me see some photos and threads that will for sure help me with my new aquisition. a 1979 palomino bay. She has a fair bit of rust and the camper interior is dead but I hope to revive her in the coming months.

  14. Hi and welcome.

  15. I am based in Eastleigh but the bus was in Warminster. It runs and drives just needs a bit of welding etc. it's my first project van but I was brought up with Vws with my mum and dad being surfers. We had 6 during my childhood. And I had a 2.1 t25 in about 1994. I have always wanted to do a T2 as a project though and I only hope I can come near to some of the vans I have seen on here. I plan to take the roof off as unfortunately I want to be able to get in beach side car parks and I want to keep her Classic looking (definitely no lowering or non stock wheels for me) I think she will be candy white on the top half and Gentian blue bottom half. Dying to get stuck in!

Some more pics that show the lovely paint that no matter how ugly and hand painted it does seem to have saved her from the worst of the tin worm. A double skin floor seems to have kept the sills and jacking points good too. She needs 4 new corners and some patches and removal of ugly old patches but really she is pretty untouched and not much filler. She has had a new front panel at some time as it and the deformation panel is perfect and with the exception of a few oil leaks she is very good mechanically. Thanks for saying hello its great to know there is so much experience to calling if I get stuck with things. Thanks in advance. Owen

  17. Unfortunately the interior is quite non existent as the roof is leaking badly
And so all the interior which was chipboard is all soggy so it's destined for the skip. I only managed to save 2 water tanks and the rock and roll bed. I am planning a hybrid westfalia style conversion with cooker sink across the front(she has a bench seat in the front) and a full width rock and roll bed but with the side seat/ storage that westys have on the drivers side ( think it's called the K1 conversion?) but will be a while till I get to that I think!

  18. She is ultimately going to be a fun toy and accommodation and transport to tow my unicorn catamaran to racing events around the country:)

  19. We did indeed have the same roof on our old bus until the chainsaw got the better of it :):chewie:
