It is indeed Oddball, one of my favourite movies.

Im not sure off hand what we have on our westy, that has a type 4 but its 20 miles away, Im home in our other bus which has a type 1 motor. I would say that if you have the right amount of free tension when fitted, it'll be fine!

  3. Hi & Welcome nice DOKA

  4. Cheers @MorkC68 I'll try again with a smaller belt, I'm sure I'll get it sorted.

@Terrordales i was definitely getting some negative waves at 3am on the M1 waiting for the RAC to turn up

Or a bigger pulley? It does look a bit small but I'm not sure what size they should be!

  9. @Flakey now there's a thought.

@Terrordales i think some oddball style headgear is in order for when I venture out in the van

I have a WW II tank drivers helmet just like the Oddball one,

  12. @Flakey cheers, I appreciate it. I've just been looking through the engine bay thread and I think you're right. The pulleys on the type 4 engines look to cover more of the alternator than mine does. Good spot. The learning continues!

Measured the one that came off the pickup, 2.0ltr type 4 engine it's 92mm diameter.

  15. I have now and i love it and its up north aswell:thumbsup:

  16. Thanks very much @Flakey The pulley on mine is 80mm, I've put another 913mm belt on and been out for a little spin tonight. Fingers crossed that will do the job for now. Now if some can tell me where 1st and 2nd are I'll be even happier

@paradox Are you in the north as well?

  17. Yes dude near masham in north yorkshire

  18. Nice Doka and should it be called 'Herr General' ? :)

  19. @paradox I broke down not far from there on my way back from picking up my van

@Clink funny you should say that but it was named "the general" by the family. I think I'll make the subtle change to Herr, much more appropriate
