Heating

  1. How does the heating connect up between the dogs leg control things behind the wheels and the totem pole?

I have my exchangers that are connected to them things then it's connected to a y piece and that's all I have.

I bought a metal middle section from heritage ages ago but this is wrong, doesn't fit. I have lots of random pipe work from when I bought the bus but none of it seems to fit right.

Also is there supposed to be connectors from the pipes to the metal cross braces?

Finally how on earth is a pipe ment to run from the front cross brace past the handbrake cables (which seem to be in the way) over the beam and into the bottom of the totem?

  2. ive welded a plate over the hole in the floor and forgot about it. I've never heard a good word said about the heat you can get from your engine bay.

  3. What year is your van?

  5. Mines an early late so different to yours and phots will be useless. The totem should connect to tin tubes under the floor that direct around all the gubbins with a concertina tube front to rear. A Y section connecting to the corrugated connections to either your heat exchangers on a typ1 engine or heater control pods on a Type 4 motor.

Anyone else got any underside pics that show this on a late?

  6. Best I could find:

So it's metal piping from the totem to the beam, then flexi to the first cross member?

Be good to see other peoples set up

  7. someone else needs to assist with this as Im not entirely convinced some late lates hade corrugated tube from front to back. Ive considered using this myself (need to check size)
they do 4 and 5 inch. Not sure how durable under a bus but this stuff or similar is being sold for propex heater installs.

  8. check my resto thread, there is a pic there but im not sure how clear it is, from what i remember, there is just corrugated insulated plastic tubes in between each cross member up to the Y piece, then the consertinas. if you still need pics by wednesday, i can try and get on the ramps again.Good luck

  9. I was looking on heritage earlier and it seems there are some rubber fittings I guess to join the tubing to the cross members. I have everything up to and including the y piece at the rear.

I'm still stumped with how a pipe is going to fit from the front crossmember past the handbrake cables and over the beam. To me the handbrake cables are exactly where the pipe needs to run. Not where they join the fitting but where they cross.

  10. You should have a metal diverter box attached to the front crossmember. Flexible tubes carry the heat from this to the front riser and the centre floor vent.

  11. Don't have one of them. Is it then just a bit of pipe between the two crossmembers?

i don't have the diverter either i had a long thread running a few weeks ago which involved a lot of what you are asking, i've opted to go with one pipe only from the Y piece to the front totem pole only bypassing the under seat and the other rear feeds so that al available heat goes to the screen

  15. Probably best to source the necessary from a scrapper i would think.

  16. I have been watching that thread hoping for answers but that is all engine end, and boy have you got some problems. Lol

    Damned yanks.

    My issue is t'other end

  17. Any idea what they are called?

I have a section of pipe I bought from heritage, seems I need the grommet connectors too. So I have everything from the engine through to the front crossmember.
