The parts list I use has the same stud for 1700, 1800 and 2.0l oval and square ports heads but I don’t know if that’s correct, I only have one set of heads to check and they’re on the engine.
I should be able to remember. At one time it was very difficult to get the 8/9 studs, then all of a sudden you couldn't get anything else. I'm thinking 15-20 years ago. I've done the 8/9 as a repair more than once but I can't remember if it was my own 1700 or my 2L from a T25 or someone elses. First time was mine. It only works if the threads are a bit loose, if they are stripped there isn't enough meat left.
